The form of the sound control room

(1) The enclosed sound control room is located permanently behind the side platform or auditorium. The advantage of being located in the backstage is that it is close to the stage, convenient to connect, and the connection line of the microphone is short. However, it is difficult to fully observe the stage, especially since tuning cannot be based on directly listening to the sound in the hall (venue). The advantage of the sound control room located behind the audience hall is that it can observe the entire stage and adjust the sound according to the size of the sound inside the hall. The disadvantage is that it is far from the stage, inconvenient to contact, difficult to see clearly, and the microphone cable is long, making installation more complicated.




(2) Open control rooms are usually located in the auditorium without building a computer room, while equipment is directly placed on cabinets and workstations. The advantage is that it can be adjusted at any time based on the on-site sound effect. The disadvantage is being watched by the audience, and there is no good environment to speak of.




2) Requirements for audio control room




(1) The volume should be as large as possible. If conditions permit, the volume of the audio control room should be as large as possible. When recording, it is generally required that the recording engineer's monitoring room has a large volume to ensure the effectiveness of monitoring. For the sound control room of the expansion system, it is no exception. A larger volume should be used as much as possible, and the sound control room should ensure the monitoring effect, so that the sound controller can make judgments based on the monitoring situation. The minimum net area of a general audio control room should be greater than 15 square meters, and the minimum dimensions of width and height should be greater than 2.5 meters.




(2) The observation window in the sound control room should be large enough to view the podium and more than 3/2 of the performance area. The sound control room at the rear of the auditorium should have an observation window that can be opened to directly hear the sound inside the hall. The elevation of the window sill should be about 1.7m higher than the ground level of the last row, so that the audience will not block their view. The layout of the observation window, mixing console, and other equipment in the audio control room should be reasonable. It is best to ensure that the sound controller can see the situation in the field from the seat of the mixing console through the observation window, and all equipment on the rack can be seen from the side head.




(3) Stay away from the lighting control room. To avoid interference from strong electricity to weak electricity, the sound control room must be kept away from the lighting control room. After determining the layout positions of the sound control room, microphone socket junction box, and speaker system, an economical and reasonable pipeline design for the sound reinforcement system can be made based on the structure of the building to avoid strong electrical interference.




(4) The sound control room should also have a good acoustic environment for monitoring, and it is best to directly hear the sound effect inside the venue. Flat ceilings and walls should receive appropriate sound absorption treatment.
