Problems and Solutions in Acoustic Design of Stadiums

Jul 19,2022

The main problems in the acoustic design of stadiums are: severe multiple echoes, serious sound overflow (disturbing), and many local quiet areas (sound blind areas), etc., and the design needs to be solved through acoustic construction and electro-acoustic coordination.

The multiple echo problem can be solved in two ways.

1. In terms of architectural acoustics design, it is necessary to add some sound absorption and reflection surfaces to shorten the transmission of sound in space as much as possible, improve sound absorption efficiency, reduce reflected sound energy, avoid repeated reflection of high-energy sound waves and expand the reverberation radius. public broadcasting manufacturers

2. In terms of electro-acoustic design, speakers with high directivity factor (Q value) and narrow directivity should be selected, such as Q125, whose horizontal directivity is 60-90 or even 40-20. The attenuation slope outside the passband is greater than 60-90, and the sound energy outside the passband is relatively low

It is also necessary to correctly design and adjust the coverage of the speakers, and control the frequency bandwidth of low-frequency sounds, which can also play a certain role. Note that the narrower the speaker directivity, the higher the cost

The use of low-power distributed speakers to supplement the sound can solve the problem of the local quiet zone (sound dead zone). Some issues worthy of attention in the acoustic design of stadiums are: if there are many structures and walls, such as ellipses or arcs with larger major and minor axes, circles or arcs with larger diameters, large columns, echo walls, etc. It is easy to bring the consequences of sound focus crawling, cause serious sound defects, damage sound quality, and reduce speech intelligibility. To some extent, this is the contradiction between design and aesthetic design, which needs attention and reasonable coordination in the design process. Public broadcasting brand manufacturers
