Improving the damping coefficient of the speaker system

Aug 21,2023

The damping coefficient reflects the ratio of speaker impedance to the total impedance of the entire speaker front-end circuit. The higher the damping coefficient, the more pronounced the response of the amplifier output signal to the speaker. In other words, the more control a power amplifier has over the speaker. The components used in the built-in frequency divider are high impedance components, so the power divider will greatly increase the total impedance of the circuit, thereby reducing the control power of the power amplifier and affecting the improvement of sound quality.

However, the use of dual or triple power amplifiers without built-in frequency dividers has no adverse impact on the damping coefficient of the system.

Eliminating insertion loss of conference room audio equipment speakers:

Insertion loss refers to the power output of a power amplifier that cannot be transmitted to the speaker and converted into sound. The built-in frequency divider is also known as an LC frequency divider. The principle is to use the low pass and high pass characteristics of inductance (L) and capacitance (C) to prevent some frequency signals from passing through the circuit, thus completing frequency division. However, the inductors, cement resistors, and other components used in the built-in voltage divider are power components that consume a large amount of energy. The energy loss in these components constitutes the so-called insertion loss, and the more complex the crossover, the greater the insertion loss. Installation of conference room audio equipment

After using dual or triple amplifier drivers, due to the absence of a third device for the amplifier output and speaker unit, insertion loss can be effectively eliminated, which significantly improves the utilization rate of the amplifier output energy.
