Differentiate the differences in professional performance audio equipment

Sep 18,2023

Professional performance sound systems, public address sound systems, and conference sound systems are all referred to as sound systems, and their styles are very similar, so many people find it difficult to distinguish these three. In fact, these devices are essentially sound systems, with different directions and occasions. Next, we will summarize them in detail for everyone.

1. The applications of the above three systems are different. The so-called performance audio system is mainly used for performance amplification, divided into indoor performances and outdoor performances, and its requirements vary depending on the different occasions mentioned above.

Public address sound systems generally refer to large buildings, such as shopping malls, airports, train stations, exhibition areas, comprehensive office areas, etc., used to play background sound and broadcast notifications.

2. The requirements for the three systems are different.

In terms of performance system. It should be suitable for various performances: opera, concert, concert, drama, etc. Highlight system configuration and layout functions. In the case of public broadcasting systems, only language or background music is usually considered. In the system connected to the fire emergency broadcast, there is a special trigger switch function. When arranging speakers, it is necessary to consider the uniformity of sound coverage and the pure fragmentation of the conference system. We only need to consider using a dedicated conference sound reinforcement system (commonly known as hand in hand) or a conventional sound reinforcement system, as well as corresponding conference microphones. 3. The equipment composition of the three systems is different.

The output power, frequency response, peripherals, speaker configuration, etc. may vary greatly depending on the system application. Generally speaking, the requirements for a performance audio system are very high, and the system composition is relatively complex and flexible. For example, peripheral devices such as equalization, delay, voltage limiting, frequency division, reverberation, excitation, etc. need to have a wide frequency response range from 35 to 20K, with output power ranging from thousands of watts to tens of thousands of watts, and speakers with power ranging from 10 watts to 10 watts. All devices operate in high fidelity mode, while public address systems are much simpler in terms of device composition, with few signal sources, simple program control functions, and corresponding constant voltage or power amplifiers. The program is relatively fixed and the frequency response is between 100 and 10K. Conference audio equipment can be understood as a simplified and streamlined version of the performance system, meaning that meetings and conference rooms often share the same system with multifunctional theaters and assembly halls. For a small conference system, only one mixer, one amplifier, and a pair of speakers need to be configured. Other configurations include peripherals or audio integrated processors and feedback suppressors, with some system indicators graded based on usage level and investment.
