The first type of natural solid wood, its cost is relatively high, and its quality is much heavier than the same volume of speakers, usually used in high-end speakers. The boards of solid wood speakers are usually made of precious hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, peach wood, sandalwood, etc., preferably a seamless whole board, which is the top material for speaker production. However, such materials are hard to find, expensive and difficult to process. The next is flower willow wood, jujube wood, catalpa wood, etc., which is more serious and the wood is uniform. The new material is wet and easy to deform, and it can be used after drying. Therefore, sometimes in high-end products, different woods are also used as the symbol of the product grade.
But for the vast majority of household-level users, the most common wood raw material is still wood-based panels. Among them, the density board is also called fiberboard. It is made by soaking wood, tree technology and other objects in water and then hot grinding, paving and hot pressing. It uses wood fiber or other plant fiber as raw material, and applies urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable artificial board made of adhesive. MDF can be divided into high density board (density ≥880kg/m3), medium density board (density 550kg-880kg/m3), low density board (density less than 550kg/m3) ). Because of its soft impact resistance, high strength, uniform density after pressing, it is also easy to reprocess, but the disadvantage is poor water resistance. Therefore, to use it as a speaker box, the common practice is to skin it.
Particleboard, also known as particle board, bagasse board, is a wood-based board made of wood or other lignocellulosic materials and glued under the action of heat and pressure after applying adhesive, also known as particle board. Mainly used in furniture and construction industry and the manufacture of train and car carriages. The finished particleboard does not need to be dried again, can be used directly, and has good sound absorption and sound insulation properties. But it also has its inherent shortcomings, because the edge is rough and easy to absorb moisture, so the furniture edge sealing process made of particleboard is particularly important. In addition, due to the large volume of particleboard, the furniture made from it is also heavier than other boards.
