Audio channel

1) Mono channel sound reinforcement is the main form of hall sound reinforcement in China. This type of sound reinforcement has the advantages of simple system structure, low investment, and easy regulation. According to the specific situation of the use of the sound reinforcement system, sometimes there is no need to consider having the function of stereo sound reinforcement at all. At this time, it can reduce the peripheral equipment by half, such as room equalizer, pressure limiter, delay device, etc., which can only be used in one channel (mono), so the cost can often be reduced. This plan is an economical and practical design in venues and auditoriums mainly used for language reinforcement.

2) The sound image uniformity and layering of the stereo sound reinforcement form are superior to that of the mono sound reinforcement form. In practical applications of electroacoustic sound systems, 70mm cinemas often use stereo sound reproduction systems, which have achieved a high degree of unity between sound and visual images, creating a realistic three-dimensional and spatial sense. However, for most theaters and auditoriums in China, only a few adopt the stereo system. Because in theaters and auditoriums that use stereo sound reinforcement, not all seats can hear perfect stereo effects. Due to many stereophonic sound reinforcement theaters and auditoriums, the sound effect on certain seats is often worse than when using mono. The reason for the above phenomenon is that the effective listening area of the dual channel stereo system is not large. In halls that use stereo sound reinforcement, in order to ensure that the audience can fully enjoy the stereo effect, the number of seats may need to be greatly reduced, making the design of the hall, layout of speakers, and sound control operation more difficult. The use of stereo sound reinforcement in halls that were not considered in the original design often backfires. The result may be that a small portion of the audience heard the perfect stereo effect, while the majority of the audience did not feel the superiority of stereo at all. From the perspective of sound equipment, modern electroacoustic equipment generally has the basic functions of stereo sound. As the core equipment of the electroacoustic system, the mixing console generally has the most basic stereo function, with a "sound image (panoramic)" potentiometer and two stereo outputs on the left and right sides. Therefore, other devices, amplifiers, and speakers are also configured according to the left and right sides, allowing for vertical sound amplification. The design of some old-fashioned halls often fails to meet the requirements of stereo sound reinforcement. The usual approach is to place the "sound image (panoramic)" on the mixing table in the middle position, and downgrade the stereo equipment to mono equipment for use. That is to say, the design of electric sound reinforcement systems often adopts the following form: ensuring the basic functions of stereo sound reinforcement in terms of equipment; However, considering the specific situation of the hall environment structure and seating arrangement, in order to ensure a large area of sound effect, only mono sound reinforcement is generally used. The same applies to the electroacoustic system in most dance halls. Many dance halls and multifunctional halls generally adopt the above scheme, which preserves the stereo function in equipment configuration and only serves as mono sound reinforcement in actual use. Since there is no unified design mode for the dance hall and multi-function hall, the sound reinforcement form adopted should also be flexible. For example, a combination of stereo and mono sound is used, with stereo sound reinforcement used in guest seats, dance floors, and other areas in the hall, while mono sound reinforcement is used in other areas. The general principle is that as long as all listening areas can hear complete program information, there should be no interference effect of sound waves due to excessive or irregular placement of speakers. 3) Surround stereo enhances the three-dimensional and spatial sense of sound and image on the basis of ordinary dual channel stereo, and is an advanced form of sound reinforcement. It has been installed in some newly built cinemas and theaters in China.
